Abstract

AIM: To analyse precautionary measures in ophthalmology department to prevent COVID 19 transmission in medical college hospital

METHODS:on arrival to hospital patients were screened at fluclinic,maintained social distance,triaged to red eye clinic,emergency,non emergency eye patients.Any patient with fever,cough,sore throat( covid suspect) were directed to medicine.As our hospital has a covid ward necessary precautions were taken by health care workers to minimize the risk of spread of disease to noncovid patients by wearing appropriate ppe in opd,operation theatres,sanitization of the surfaces.Need to examine critically ill ICU patients,where the viral load is more.All Frontline health workers were given hydroxychloroquin prophylaxis

CONCLUSION:

During covid19 pandemic preventive measures like screening at flu clinic,social distanciing,wearing personal protective equipment are essential.Adequate sanitization,sterilization of instruments required to prevent spread of the disease
