Abstract
AIM
To report outcome and recurrence in pterygium excision with sutureless In vivo limbal stem cell transplantation , tuck in conjunctival autografting in central india where cost is a limiting factor in use of any sutures, amniotic membrane, fibrin glue ,mitomycin or avastin.
METHODS
Retrospective noncomparative analysis on 20 eyes of 20 patients with primary ,recurrent and double headed pterygium . Patients with blood clotting disorders,on glaucoma medication,stents or filtering bleb are excluded.
RESULTS
Mean age was 32.2years. Mean follow up was 12.2 months .Outcome meausures were cosmetic satisfaction ,recurrence rate , graft edema, graft dislocation, loss of graft.
CONCLUSION
pterygium excision with sutureless In vivo limbal stem cell transplantation and tuck in conjunctival autografting is cheap alternative alleviating tissue adhesive,antimitotic drugs and anti VEGFs.It is a viable option with lesser intraoperative time, excellent cosmetic result and low recurrence rate.
