Abstract
Phaco in cases of cataract with corneal opacity is difficult due to poor visualization. Use of intra-cameral light source with chopper has given better visualization and so better results but manoeveration is difficult. In this series, we have used Indian make chandelier light source with LED bulb placing in vitreous cavity through pars plana. It has given excellent visualization of all structure which has made all steps including rhexis, hydro, dialing, phaco and IOL implantation very easy. During entire procedure, scope light was “OFF”. 18 cases with pre-existing mild to moderate amount of corneal opacity with advance cataract were selected. We have observed that average total procedure time was 12.5 minutes, average phaco time was 0.62 seconds, average phaco power was 52.5% of torisonal mode. In 2 cases, mild rhexis extension and in one case small PCR occurred. Post Op. BCVA at one month was 6/18 (Range 6/24 to 6/9). Procedure will be demonstrated by video.
