Abstract

METHODS: This is a cross sectional Study that included 155 eyes of 80 patient which was further divided in two groups .75 eyes of POAG with diabetes (group 1) and 80 eyes of POAG without diabetes (group 2). After complete basic ophthalmic examination of patients,who fulfilled our inclusion criteria was further examined for visual field analysis and optic nerve head evaluation by using spectral domain optical coherence tomography.

RESULTS: Base line ophthalmic evaluation such as BCVA, CCT, IOP , CD ratio did not show any statistical difference between two groups. On ONH evaluation, there was a significant average RNFL thinning (p 0.003) as well as on quadrant wise thickness measurement significant superior and inferior thinning was present in group 1 (p 0.001, p 0.002). Rim area was more in group 1 (mean rim area 1.1 mm Vs 0.98 mm p 0.035), others OCT parameters did not show any statistical difference. Severity of visual field loss was more in group 1 (p 0.0002).
