Abstract
Aim:To study the prevalence and manifestations of ocular involvement in patients with Behcet’s disease in west bengal.
Method:Prospective analysis of all suspected cases of Behcet’s disease visiting eye opd at a tertiary care hospital in kolkata between 2018-20.
Result:A total of 10 patients were diagnosed to have Behcet’s disease of which 6 were male and 4 were female. Ocular manifestations were present on both the anterior and posterior segment. Overall The commonest manifestation was conjunctival ulcer (40%),followed by iridocyclitis (25%).Retinal periphlebitis was the most common ocular manifestation(15%) in posterior segment. Response to topical corticosteroids was good. Systemic corticosteroid therapy was implemented in 30% of patients.Cystoid macular edema was the most common complication in the examined group (60%).
Conclusion:The prevalence and severity of ocular lesions in Behcet’s disease was found to be relatively low in our patient group.
