Abstract
Study design- Prospective, interventional, comparative study.
Methods: Fifty eyes from 50 patients (25 in each group) received ET PIOL or T-ICL. Both the groups were appropriately matched with respect to mean age, pre-op SE, cylinder, pre-op CDVA, and contrast sensitivity scores. Mean follow-up of 20.4 months.
Results: At 2 years, 72% T-ICL eye & 76% ET PIOL eyes had UDVA of 20/20 or better. 64% ET PIOL eyes in & 52% T-ICL gained one or more lines of CDVA and there was no loss of CDVA in both the groups. Both groups showed SE predictability ±0.5 D in 80% eyes. No complications were noted. The ECD, vault and IOP remained stable.
Conclusion: Both toric phakic IOLs showed good safety, efficacy, predictability and rotational stability in treating high myopic astigmatism.
