Abstract

Intravenous FFA is invasive technique associated with multiple complications. Oral FFA was first introduced by Kincaid et al in 1979. Oral FFA done by earlier fundus cameras fell into disrepute because of poor quality of images. Recently the use of cSLO, has improved the quality of images. We present the use of Oral Fluorescein Angiography in 236 subjects who underwent fluorescein angiography for various retinal diseases including diabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusions, age related macular degeneration, central serous chorioretinopathy etc using the recently launched widefield fundus camera based on broadline imaging technology. Only 1 patient complained of vomiting during the procedure. 3 patients had mild allergic rash. None had vasovagal syncope. Good quality angiograms were obtained in 230(97%) eyes. Oral FFA, being minimally invasive is a safe alternative to IV FFA in several indications. It also has advantages over OCT angiography.
