Abstract
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of Optical Coherence Tomography features and surgical aspects in a series of 3 cases.
RESULTS: Two patients developed FTMH 10 days after an initial lamellar macular hole formation and one patient 2 months post SOR. The latter case had persisting preretinal and intraretinal fibrosis after vitrectomy due to perioperative preretinal bleed. The former 2 patients had no preretinal membranes but had foveal traction pre-operatively with splitting of intraretinal layers. All 3 patients underwent inverted ILM peeling with SF6 injection for a successful closure of FTMH and a mean BCVA of 0.6 logMAR.
CONCLUSION: Morphological features of Macular TRD,intra-op complications and post-op secondary membranes dictate healing post TRD surgery. An understanding of traction features can help prognosticate impending complications.
