Abstract
Aim:To evaluate the impact of Dry Eye Disease(DED) on Vision Related-Quality of Life(VR-QOL).
Method:The cross-sectional study included 50 DED and 50 non-DED patients during June-Dec 2019.Ocular Surface Disease Index(OSDI) Questionnaire was admitted to all patients.Comprehensive Ophthalmic examination including Schirmer’s Test-I(ST-I),Tear film Break-up Test(TBUT) and systemic examination were conducted.National Eye Institute-Visual Function Questionnaire-25(NEI-VFQ-25) was administered to all patients and correlated between groups.
Results:Based on OSDI scoring,DED patients are further classified into mild, moderate, severe DED. Values of ST-I,TBUT had significant correlation with OSDI scores.Compared with non-DED, DED had lower(worse) NEI-VFQ-25 scores for sub-scales,except vision related mental health, role difficulties, dependency, peripheral vision, colour vision and higher(worse) OSDI scores.
Conclusion: The impairment of VR-QOL has significant correlation with severity of DED.
