Abstract
63 eyes of 35 patients moderate to high myopia were surgically corrected with the RIL, a new Phakic Lens. There were 28 bilateral and 7 unilateral implantation. The mean preoperative spherical equivalent was -13D with a range of -5D to -32D. The preoperative UCVA ranged from 6/60 to counting fingers. The preop BCVA ranged from 6/6 to 6/60 with a mean of 6/12. The mean aqueous depth preop was 3.2 mm & the endothelial count was 3320 cells/mm2. 42 eyes were implanted with Toric RIL and 21 with spherical RIL. The spherical power of the RIL implanted ranged from -6D to -24D with a mean of -13D with the cylinder ranging from 0 to -4D. Postop the patients were checked on Days 1, 14 & 45 with UCVA, BCVA, IOP & Lens Vault (on ASOCT) being checked. The endothelial count was checked on day 45. The mean postop UCVA improved to 6/9. The average lens vault was 647u and the mean endothelial count was 3150 cells/mm2. There were 2 cases of transient uveitis and 2 eyes with persistent dilated pupils
