Abstract
ABSTRACT-
PURPOSE-To assess the impact of advanced SMILE refractive procedure on patient’s cognitive and psychosocial aspect of quality of life after the procedure and their adaptability over time. METHODS- A retrospective study in 116 patients ( 18- 35 years of age))who under went SMILE refractive procedure for myopia and myopic astigmatism from October 2018- October 2019. The Quality of Life Impact of Refractive Correction (QIRC) Questionnaire was given to all patients and results were statistically analyzed.RESULTS-Among 116 patients, 66 were females and 50 were males. satisfaction after procedure was more more in males, between 24- 27 age group and in myopic group( p-<0.01). Results showed a significant change in quality of life in terms of psychosocial aspect and over all QOL indicators were better at 6month follow up ( p<0.001).CONCLUSION- SMILE refractive procedure will improve the quality of life in patients and they need some time to adapt to their new visual function.
