Abstract
Purpose: To describe a case of bilateral presumed tuberculous choroiditis which resolved with antitubercular treatment.
Case report: A 35 year old male presented with bilateral dimness of vision of one week duration.Systemic examination revealed the presence of cervical lymphadenopathy. Ocular examination showed retinal and disc edema,exudative retinal detachment and an active choroiditis patch.Considering the above findings,positive Mantoux test and after excluding other diseases,the patient was started on anti-tubercular treatment and oral steroids for exudative retinal detachment and disseminated choroiditis due to presumed ocular tuberculosis.The patient responded well to the treatment and on follow up there was a steady resolution of the disease and improvement of visual acuity without any relapse.
Conclusion: This case report highlights the importance of thorough systemic and clinical examination for early diagnosis and treatment in a case of ocular tuberculous choroiditis.
