Abstract
AIM:Analysis of macular ganglion cell complex and RNFL loss in preperimetric and perimetric glaucomatous patients using spectral domain OCT.METHODOLOGY:This is a 2 year prospective, observational study conducted in 350 eyes of 175 patients with family history of glaucoma and all glaucoma suspects. All patients underwent a detailed anterior and posterior segment examination.Central corneal thickness, IOP, visual field examination using HFA-SITA standard strategy 24-2 and spectral domain OCT imaging of both eyes using Cirrus HD-OCT was done.RESULTS:The average RNFL thickness showed a significant positive correlation with average GCL+IPL thickness in this study. Preperimetric and perimetric glaucomatous eyes showed a significant reduction in RNFL and GCL+IPL thickness as compared to normal population.CONCLUSION: We conclude that RNFL scan along with macular ganglion cell analysis using SD-OCT is indeed a feasible and helpful screening tool.
