Abstract
Purpose: comparative study of effect of two drugs on graft re-epitheliasation after Penetrating keratoplasty
Material: we divided 40 postOP PK patients in 2 groups,A&B.Received 50%topical autologous serum bihourly &0.1% sodium hyaluronate QID respectively. Evaluation done at post Op day 1,3,7,14,90. Re-epitheliasation divided in 5 grades(D=day): grade1<3D,grade2:4-7D,grade3:8-10D,grade4:11-14D,grade5:14D,grade5:>14D.Patients treated with TCL.Appropriate statistical test applied wherever necessary.Result-in group A,majority of cases showed grade 3(40%)&grade 2(25%).In group B majority showed grade 4(35%)&grade 5(25%).95% grafts in group A & 75% in groupB re-epithelized within 2 weeks.complete healing of larger graft in 2 weeks is83.33% in groupA& 57% in groupB.BCVA (3months)>/=6/60 had 70% in groupA&50% in groupB. Regraft reepitheliased in 2 weeks in groupA (83%)& groupB(40%).
Conclusion:Autologous serum promotes better graft re-epithelisation especially in larger graft and regraft.
