Abstract
AIM-To assess the fitting,complications and patient satisfaction with mini-scleral contact lenses in patients having irregular corneal astigmatism.DESIGN-Prospective Interventional Study.METHOD-24 patients(32 eyes) with corneal ectasias,post keratoplasty and post refractive surgery ectasias were included,Ocular surface disorders were excluded.The number of visits taken to achieve a correct fit of the lens,improvement in visual acuity,mean wear time was noted,eyes were examined for complications.Patient satisfaction was noted using CLIQ questionnaire on day1,at 1month and at 6months.RESULTS-An average of 2 visits were required to achieve a correct fit of the lens.The mean CLIQ raw score and CLIQ person measure between day1,1month and 6months improved.Improvement in visual acuity was seen.85% of eyes had no complications. CONCLUSION- Miniscleral contact lens is an effective and safe method for managing irregular corneal astigmatism.
