Abstract
Aim: Compare the structural and functional clinical difference in normal tension glaucoma(NTG) vs primary open glaucoma (POAG)patients
Methods: 34 eyes of POAG & 34 eyes of NTG patients were included in this study. In all patients ONH parameters assessed by SD-OCT & 90D & RNFL defects by red free fundus photographs. visual field defects(VFDs) assessment through automated perimetry using SITA standard algorithm 24-2 point pattern
Results: Large optic disc (64%), infero-temporal NRR notching & localized RNFL defects (76%) were more common in NTG than POAG[P<00001], while laminar dot sign (82%), diffuse NRR thinning (61%), diffuse RNFL defects (58%) were more frequent in POAG. VFDs in NTG eyes were central, deeper asymmetrical superior (41%) and inferior (23%) scotomas, while POAG eyes were more frequently associated with symmetrical arcuate defects (97%). CONCLUSION: We found statically significant structural & clinically significant functional difference in NTG vs POAG patients.
