Abstract
To determine the sensitivity of OCTA Vs SD-OCT in documenting treatment response to anti-VEGF injections in wet AMD.
Retrospectively 40 treatment-naive eyes of wet AMD patients who received anti-VEGF injections were included. Baseline and post-injection characteristics of SD-OCT and OCTA were studied. SD-OCT criteria of response included reduction in subretinal fluid, Intraretinal fluid, number of hyperreflective spots and PED height. OCTA criteria were reduction in the size of CNVM, reduction in the number of anastomoses and conversion to mature vessels. Statistical analysis was done by chi-square test.
Treatment response could be documented in 90% cases (36/40) on SD-OCT and 93% cases (37/40) on OCTA. There was no difference in response in Type 1 & 2 CNVM
Both SD-OCT and OCTA can reliably document treatment response to anti-VEGF therapy. OCTA was more sensitive compared to SD-OCT to document treatment response but the difference in sensitivity was statistically insignificant (p=0.69)
