Abstract
A retrospective study was done on 50 patients of Duane’s Retraction Syndrome to evaluate the outcomes of resurgery. Of 28 patients of eso DRS, 7 patients underwent re surgery, and of 21 patients of exo DRS, 7 patients underwent re surgery and in 1 patient of ortho DRS re surgery was performed. The indication of re surgery is patients with eso DRS was a residual deviation in 6 patients and consecutive deviation in 1 patient. On the contrary 5 patients of exo DRS had consecutive deviation and 2 patients had residual deviation, for which 1 patient underwent periosteal anchoring and in1 patient periosteal fixation of lateral rectus with vertical rectus transposition. 1 patient of ortho DRS developed a consecutive exo DRS for which lateral rectus recession of 10mm with Y split was performed. 30 % of our cases required a second surgery, thus the management should be tailored according to each patient.
