Abstract
Purpose: To describe a potential non-contact and quick imaging tool for traumatic cataracts, a better alternative for UBM.
Methods: The newer swept source anterior segment optical coherence tomography [CASIA 2, (Tomey Corp., Nagoya, Japan)] was used to image traumatic cataracts along with UBM.
Observations: A total of 15 eyes were examined to acquire 360* degrees scans of entire lens. Without any contact, more than 12 images can obtained within few seconds with 3D reconstructed impressions. Extensive details can be studied from corneal apex to anterior vitreous in one frame at microns with far superior images compared to UBM.
Conclusions: The newer swept source ASOCT provides, superior finer details of lens along its entire thickness and 360* circumference as compared to standard UBM.
