Abstract
A 20 years old mentally challenged male presented with complaints of dimness of vision in both eyes for 6 months and history of constant rubbing of eyes for 1 year (as per mother). There was history of recurrent episodes of seizures in the past for which he was under neurophysician care. CT scan of brain revealed astrocytoma .
On examination, there were multiple brownish macular spots all over the body. Visual acuity and other detailed ocular examination were not allowed by the patient. Anterior segment examination revealed bilateral mature cataract. A diagnosis of oculodigital syndrome in tuberous sclerosis was made.
The patient underwent bilateral simultaneous small incision cataract surgery with implantation of rigid PCIOL under general anaesthesia. Lens power was determined approximately by doing retinoscopy on table.
Post-operatively, visual acuity was 6/18(approx.) and fundus examination was normal in both eyes. However, the patient was lost for further follow-up.
