Abstract
Aim:Systematic evaluation of post-surgery patients with myopic, hyperopic shift or glare&role of BVAA
Methods:56 eyes of 28 patients with myopic, hyperopic shift or glare post surgery underwent cycloplegic refraction,topography,ray-tracing&binocular vergence&accommodation testing.Office&home-based vision therapy(VT)initiated after diagnosis of BVAA
Results:Incidence of BVAA post surgery was 5.6%.35% of eyes showed myopic shift,16.7% hyperopic shift, 68.3% astigmatism&20% eyes had glare.Regression in 2 eyes,convergence insufficiency(ci)in 24 eyes,accommodative excess(ae)&insufficiency(ai)in 6 eyes each,divergence insufficiency(di)&fusional vergence dysfunction in 4 eyes each&non-specific vergence&accommodative(nsva)anomalies in 10 eyes.Myopic shift associated with ae&ci (p<0.05), hyperopic with ai, nsva(p<0.05)&glare with ci.Mean residual refraction reduced to 0.35D (p<0.05) post 21 days of VT. Conclusion: Meticulous evaluation&VT exercises helps avoid re-correction surgery
