Abstract
Orthokeratology (OrthoK) is an alternative method to correct refractive errors using custom-designed rigid lenses to temporarily modify the curvature of cornea.Modern OrthoK technology uses breathable rigid lens material and reverse geometry designs to allow faster and more effective corneal reshaping. We studied the effect of OrhtoK on 60 Indian patients of moderate myopia with or without astigmatism. Multiple variables were taken to evaluate the effect of OrthoK lenses Viz, duration of clear vision, corneal thickness, axial Length, unaided visual acuity and residual refraction after overnight contact lens use. This study conclude that Orthokeratology provides unaided clear vision for most part of the day in a majority of the patients also It is a viable nonsurgical alternative to refractive surgery. This study differed from the past studies in being more exhaustive in terms of investigative modalities used viz Orbscan and IOL Master and also in using multiple outcome variables.
