Abstract
Aim:To determine the clinico-demographic characteristic, survival rates and risk factors of retinoblastoma. Method:In this retrospective observational case series,86 children were reviewed.Demographic data, symptoms and its duration, ocular findings and treatment modalities of patients..Kaplan-Meier analysis was used to analyze life survival rate. Results:102 eyes of 86 patients were studied.64 are males. Age at presentation was 3 months to 6 years.Positive family history was found in 3 cases.81.40%patients had unilateral involvement. The commonest manifestation was proptosis with orbital invasion(42.02%eyes) and leukocoria(44.12%eyes).Histopathological high risk features were present in 41.18% eyes.11.63%patients had lymph node metastasis and 5.81%patients had distant metastasis.3 years survival was 45.71%in unilateral cases and 37.59%in bilateral cases(Kalpan Meier method). Conclusion:The proptosis and frequent extraocular spread at time of presentation is the cause of low survival rate.
