Abstract
Challenges pertaining to the best option for the management of unilateral ptosis with poor levator action still remain and the debate regarding the ideal surgical procedure is still persisting and remain controversial.Frontalis suspension surgery has been recommended in the treatment of unilateral ptosis in the past decades. However, it is associated with complications like sling exposure, extrusion, suture granuloma, infection, brow scar and suboptimal cosmesis. To avoid these problems many surgeons switched over to supramaximal levator resection which gives better cosmesis in terms of good lid contour and symmetry but always result in undercorrection.
In our study we compared the post operative surgical and cosmetic outcome of tarsofrontalis sling surgery to supramaximal levator resection in congenital ptosis with poor levator resection. It was prospective interventional study and 15 patients were enrolled in each group. The study was conducted over a period of 06 months.
