Abstract
Aim – To compare the outcome between evisceration with scleral implant and four petal evisceration. Method- A retrospective study of 30 eyes who underwent evisceration for varied reasons and all had inadequate sclera.Out of 30 eyes, 15 had evisceration with implant wrapped in sclera & 15 had four petal evisceration with implant. Patients were followed up at 1 week, 1 month and 3 monthly till 6 month & beyond. The main aim of the study was to focus on documenting postoperative outcome in terms of cosmesis and complications like ptosis, sulcus deepening, fornix shortening and implant exposure. Result- Most of the eyes (60%) had satisfactory outcome with artificial eye fitting in four petal evisceration versus 56% in scleral wrap.Others had complications ranging from ptosis, sulcus deepening, fornix shortening in both groups.Conclusion- Four petal evisceration is slightly superior to scleral wrap in terms of postoperative outcome in inadequate sclera.
