Abstract
Aim: Despite COVID lockdown,an increased number of ocular trauma was encountered. This study describes patient demography, type of injury and outcomes
Method: Descriptive study of 22 ocular trauma patients who presented during 50day lockdown
Result:The mean(+SD) age was 26.9(+ 23.9)years, range of 1to84years with male: female ratio of 10:1. Domestic injuries in 14/22(63.6%) was commonest, followed by workplace injuries3/22(13.6%), assault3/22(13.6%), RTA1/22(4.5%) and fall from height1/22(4.5%).Injuries included corneo-scleral tear9/22(40.9%), lid tear6/22(27.3%), orbital FB3/22(13.63%), traumatic cataract2/22(9.1%),TON 2/22(9.1%), globe rupture1/22(4.5%) and blow out fracture1/22(4.5%). Final vision was 6/9-6/60 in 5/22(22.7%),<6/60 in 13/22(59%) 2 had No PL(9.1%), 4/22(18.3%) could not be assessed Conclusion:The COVID lockdown was associated with increase in ocular domestic injuries. The injuries were severe for all causes leading to severe vision loss, despite early intervention
