Abstract
Methods: A 16 year young child presented with slowly painless progressive vision loss since childhood. He underwent detailed ocular check-up including refraction, slit lamp and fundus examination. He also underwent coherence tomography scans and fluorescein angiography.
Results: On refraction his best corrected visual acuity was 6/24 OU . Fundus examination revealed hyperemic discs with slight blurred margins with epiretinal membrane. On tomographic scans multiple fluid filled cavities were found within retinal layers and fluorescein angiographic images demonstrated areas of hypofluorescence. He was advised regular refractory checkup and low vision aids.
Conclusion: Patients suffering with retinoschisis should be monitored closely in order to prevent complications like macular hole and subsequent worsening of vision.
