Abstract
Methods:A young male presented with sudden painless, non-progressive loss of vision in both eyes since three days.He underwent complete ophthalmic examination including vision, slit lamp and fundus evaluation and hematological investigations.
Results:General examination showed severe pallor.Fundus examination revealed bilateral multiple subhyaloid haemorrhages all over fundus including macula. Haematological evaluation revealed the presence of megaloblastic anaemia with pancytopenia and deranged blood indices. He was advised medical treatment and close follow-up.His haemorrhage resolved over 3 months with restoration of vision.
Conclusion: Megaloblastic anemia is fairly common disease in India and its possibility may not be excluded in cases of submacular bleed in order to initiate timely treatment.
