Abstract
Ocular cysticercosis is a serious condition with a potential for complete vision loss, if left untreated.A 17 year old male patient with h/o headache for the past 3 months presented with severe headache associated with vomiting,multiple swellings on neck and face since 3 days.On ocular examination he gives h/o gradual and painless blurring of vision since 3 months.His visual acuity were OD 6/36 improving to 6/18 and OS 6/6 with near vision OU N6.Lids,adnexa,ocular movements,anterior segment were nomal in both eyes with no evidence of uveitis.Fundus examination of RE showed moderate vitritis,sub retinal cysticercosis with tractional RD not involving macula.Left eye was normal.USG neck showed muscular cysticercosis.MRI brain showed neurocysticercosis. S.cysticercus IgG was positive.Cervical LN biopsy revealed cysticercosis.Patient managed with mannitol,oral steroids,albendazole and antihistamines improved symptomatically.He was advised for vitrectomy but refused to undergo surgery.
