Abstract
RESULTS: From a pre-op visual impairment of 2% and 11% in the mild and moderate groups,we noted a marked improvement to 33% and 34% post-op respectively, and a significant drop in severe visual impairment from 87% pre-op to 33% postoperatively. CONCLUSION: 23-G vitrectomy is a safe and effective alternative to 20G vitrectomy. The indication for surgery plays a crucial role in defining the final visual outcome.
