Abstract
FCE is a localized concavity of choroid that can be congenital or acquired. A 15-year-old male noted blurred vision in his right eye, his visual acuity was 20/60(OD) and 20/40 (OS). He was evaluated and treated as focal choroiditis elsewhere. Immunological assays revealed negative TORCH titer except for IgG Rubella(339.7 IU/ml) and IgG CMV(240.1 AU/ml) positivity. He had been treated empirically with oral antibiotics (sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim) and steroids in tapering dose. Clinical examination revealed well-defined grey-yellow punched out lesion temporal to the fovea, without vitritis. On Spectral-Domain Optical Coherence Tomography there was the broad irregular excavation of choroid with distortion of overlying retinal layers, juxta foveal in location). The lesion was hypo autofluorescent and no leakage on fluorescein angiography. Thus in this index case report on the basis of positive serology for choroiditis we propose that choroiditis is also a precursor for the disease.
