Abstract

Purpose: To demonstrate that early diagnosis of ocular myasis can prevent permanent visual impairment

Method: Case report of a female with uniocular ulcer due to necrosis of the eyeball as well as the eyelids

Result : Turpentine oil was used to extract maggots and a biopsy was taken to rule out malignant growth. Dressing with betadine and normal saline was done atleast twice a day.

Conclusion: Late presentation meant consideable pain and permanent loss of sight in one of the patient’s eye.
