Abstract
A P2L2A3 lady, no other comorbidities or drug usage, having heavy prolonged menstrual bleeding, came with complaints of blurring of vision with scotoma and eyepain for past four months. History of weight loss+. She was diagnosed outside as possible Carcinoma associated retinopathy with Severe Anemia and was referred here for systemic workup. On dilated fundus examination, she had temporal pallor of disc, arteriolar attenuation with mottling of retinal pigment epithelium both eyes with colour vision 13/16. She underwent PET CT in view of cancer/metastasis, revealing increased tracer concentration in bilateral cervical nodes and in the endometrium. She underwent Total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy, but the hysterectomy biopsy revealed fibroids. After the surgery, however, the patient ocular symptoms had improved. The case report has been presented for its rarity and the dilemma it posed wherein a benign lesion like fibroid gave rise to a reversible scotoma.
