Abstract

AIM: Open globe injury is a sight threatening condition.Full-thickness,non-selfsealing corneal lacerations require repair in the operating room.During repair, it is important to zone wise divide and strategize accordingly

METHOD: zone 2 wounds are wounds extending in sclera upto 5mm from limbus this may occur due to blunt or sharp object. First step is to define extent of injury opening conjunctiva debrid wound.Second step is debridment manual removal of incarcerated tissue contents leads to incomplete cleaning & enormous traction on intra ocular contents.Third step is clear view of wound margins.In this video,we have tried vitrectomy cutter with higher vaccum for cleaning the edges of the wound especially in posterior aspect and debri removal and easy suturing.All tissue in the wound edges removed effectively without any traction on intraocular contents.

CONCLUSION: Vitrectomy hand peice is a very useful and effective tool to clean wound edges and good apposition & suturing of wound.
