Abstract
PURPOSE: To report visual outcomes and endothelial safety of ICL implantation.
METHODS: 170 eyes of 96 patients undergoing ICL implantation between 2010 and 2019 were analyzed retrospectively and post-operative uncorrected distance visual acuity (UDVA) was compared with pre op best corrected visual acuity (BCVA). Specular microscopy data and safety index were also analyzed.
RESULTS: The difference between mean pre-operative BCVA and post-operative UDVA was 0.06 +/- 0.187 (P<0.007) SD LogMAR. 106 eyes (62.3%) had post-operative UCVA better than or equal to pre-operative BCVA at glass appointment. There was no statistically significant change in endothelial cell density (p value=0.669). Complications included IOP spike(4.7%), ICL rotation(1.7%), Cataract(2.9%), urrets zavalia syndrome(0.05%). Safety index was 0.64 +/- 0.60. CONCLUSION: ICL is a safe refractive procedure with good visual outcome.
