Abstract
PURPOSE:To find out the best equation of scleral flap size and sclerostomy opening to achieve the most favorable outcome of trabeculectomy
METHOD:A prospective interventional study on Thirty eyes of 30 glaucoma patients with detailed history and ophthalmic examination was carried out including, slit lamp bio-microscopy using +90 D lens, IOP measurement using GoldmannAT, gonioscopy and post operative serial IOP measurements
RESULTS:The mean IOP reduction was found to be 75.54%, 70.27% and 64.21%,incidence of shallow anterior chamber 10%, 3.3% and 0% ,incidence of Blebitis 3.3%, 0% and 0%,incidence of cataract progression was 16.6%, 10% and 3.3% in larger, medium and small sclerostomy respectively.Incidence of failure was found in 6.6% cases of small sclerostomy group &after treatment incidence of failure reduced to 3.3%
CONCLUSION:Concluded that triangular scleral flap of 4 mm sides and sclerostomy of 2x2mm is the best equation to achieve the most favourable outcome of trabeculectomy
