Abstract
Glaucoma is a chronic, multifactorial, progressive optic neuropathy. Glaucoma therapy is life long and topical agents used over long time, are likely to cause changes in ocular surface. Therefore, this study was devised to comprehensively study the serial changes in ocular surface by thorough clinical evaluation ,OSDI score and by detailed investigations, namely Impression cytology, Schirmer’s test, TBUT, Rose Bengal and compare these changes from baseline . A total of 90 subjects, 30 in each group were recruited in 3 groups (a) Timolol 0.5% eyedrop (b) Travoprost 0.004% eyedrop (c) Timolol 0.5%+ Travoprost 0.004% eyedrop .Comparision of above parameters was done in 3 groups at 3, 6 and 9 months and these were compared from baseline. Study results demonstrated that ocular surface damage was caused by all three medications used but maximum damage was caused by fixed dose combination of Timolol (0.5%) + TRAVOPROST 0.004% and least by TRAVOPROST.
