Abstract
The ideal situation in any cataract surgery is safe implantation of an intra-ocular lens (IOL), with Aphakia being one of the most nerve racking intra-operative incidents. This IC aims to cover all the aspects of the horizon from salvaging the current situation of a posterior capsular rent with a stable IOL implantation, to secondary IOL options. From the highly debated ACIOLs, to the now popular retro-pupillary iris claw IOLs, to the time tested & sturdy Sclera Fixated IOLs (Sutured/ Sutureless), masters shall explain each technique in a detailed manner. We shall also enter the grey zone to discuss the role of contact lenses where secondary IOL cannot be implanted. As a bonus, we also are going to explore pediatric aphakia management.
