Abstract
AIM-To assess central macular thickness in patients with unilateral acute anterior uveitis.
MATERIALS & METHODS- This is a prospective, observational study performed in a tertiary care centre. 25 patients of unilateral AAU were in group A & group B had 24 healthy individuals as controls. patient’s history with detailed ophthalmic examination along with OCT scan was done for each of them for evaluation of macula. patients were called for follow up after 1 week, 1 month, & 3 months.
RESULTS-The CMTs of affected eyes and fellow eyes was notably different & was significant (p value= <0.05) during initial weeks of AAU in the active phase of disease. CONCLUSION-OCT scan shows that central macular thickness was increased in eyes with AAU in the active phase which gradually decreased when inflammation subsided. OCT can be used as prognostic tool and monitoring follow-up of acute anterior uveitis.
