Abstract
Aim-The purpose of this study is to assess the clinical features, diagnosis, follow-up, and treatment procedures in patients with orbital and adnexal infections presented during the two months period of lockdown of COVID-19 pandemic.
Methods-Retrospectively, patients with orbital and adnexal infections in months of April and May 2020 were studied for age, clinical features, predisposing factors & treatment. Patients having complications were hospitalised and were treated with intravenous antibiotics.
Results
26 patients (19 M, 7 F) with a mean age of 35.88 were included in the study. 18 (69.2%) were having orbital infections and 8 (30.76%) were having adnexal infections. 6 (23.06%) patients required hospital admission.3 patients had no Perception of Light due to associated complications.
Conclusion-Late presentation due to COVID-19 lockdown could have led to development of more severe complications & more morbidity. This could have been avoided by early presentation to hospital.
