Abstract
Twenty cases of sebaceous gland carcinoma of eye lid managed in a tertiary eye care centre were retrospectively reviewed. The study period was five years. Twenty eyes of 20 patients were selected. Fifteen cases involved the upper eyelid and 5 cases involved the lower eyelid. Three cases had orbital spread, among them one patient had ipsilateral submandibular gland involvement. Pre-operative chemotherapy was administered in 4 patients, of which 2 patients had no recurrence after 2 yrs of follow-up; whereas 2 patients recurred and needed exenteration. Rest 16 patients underwent primary surgical intervention. Patients with neck gland involvement underwent excision of the lid tumour with margin clearance, frozen section and lid reconstruction, followed by radical neck dissection with chemotherapy. Other cases without orbital or neck gland involvement were excised with margin clearance with frozen section, followed by lid reconstruction.
