Abstract
Methods: 30 eyes of 30 patients with a mean age of 68.9±8.6 years underwent phacoemulsification with implantation of Tecnis Eyhance IOL(J&J vision). All eyes were targeted for emmetropia. UDVA, CDVA, UIVA, DCIVA, UNVA, DCNVA, defocus curve, objective scatter index (OSI) and higher order aberrations(HOA) were evaluated. Dysphotopsia grading was done. Follow-ups were conducted at 1 and 6 months postoperatively.
Results: At 6 months postoperatively, all patients had a minimum 0.2 logMAR UDVA. Mean OSI was 1.45±0.92. Defocus curve analysis showed a broader range providing better distance and intermediate vision. None of the patients complained of dysphotopsia at any postoperative follow–up. Patient satisfaction was 100% for distance and intermediate vision and 90% for near vision.
Conclusion: Implantation of a new monofocal IOL yielded excellent outcomes for distance vision with improved satisfaction for intermediate vision without unwanted photic phenomena.
