Abstract
AIM: To assess the effect of screening program on Knowledge, Attitude and practice of pediatrician about ROP in terms of screening guideline, risk factor, time of referral and management.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective observational study done at a tertiary care center involving 74 pediatricians. Study duration 6 months.
RESULTS: Out of 74 pediatricians we included in our KAP study we were able to contact 64 and their knowledge in terms of ROP. Only 14 had appropriate knowledge before starting of screening program after screening program 53 having appropriate knowledge. Only 8 out of 64 have a positive attitude and practice before starting of screening program and after it 41 having positive attitude and practice.
CONCLUSION: In our study we found that there is important gap related to ROP regarding the babies to be referred, risk factor and treatment protocol which after starting of screening program there was a pragmatic improvement in preconceived ideas about ROP.
