Abstract
AIM-To study the clinico-epidemiological profile of ROP in neonates screened at the Dept. of Ophthalmolgy of a tertiary care hospital.Methods- Retrospective hospital record based review of all infants screened for ROP at VIMSAR, Burla, Odisha, data entered in Excel sheet&analysed by SPSS V24.Result- Out of 203 infants screened,152(74.8%) had various stages of ROP;1.48% Stage1 Zone I;6.4% Stage 2 Zone I;3.45% Stage 3 Zone I;8.37% Stage 1 Zone II;13.79% Stage 3 Zone II . Conclusions:Timely screening of infants for ROP & proper management may reduce the burden of preventable blindness.Advanced neonatal care has improved neonatal survival, where as prolonged Oxygen therapy resulted in ROP, blindness if not managed timely, necessitating screening of all susceptible infants.
