Abstract
Methods: Histopathological data were collected for lid, orbit, conjunctiva and intraocular benign (+cysts) and malignant tumours over period of 5 years(2014-2018). Data from 0 to 16 years age group were classified. Routine haematoxylin-eosin stain with special stains and immunohistochemistry were used (when needed) by two pathologists. Granulomas, inflammatory and infections lesions were excluded.
Results: Of 432 specimens, 162 were tumours/cysts with male preponderance. In lid tumours, commonest were dermoid cysts(n=5) and haemangioma(n=5). In orbital tumours commonest benign and malignant tumour was dermoid(n=12) and rhabdomyosarcoma(n=10)(mean age=8.3years) respectively. Nevus was commonest benign tumour in conjunctiva. Retinoblastoma was commonest in intraocular tumours(n=46).
Conclusion: Commonest benign and malignant tumours were dermoid cysts and rhabdomyosarcoma respectively.
