Abstract

Introduction-OSSN is MC malignancy of conjunctiva and cornea.Sx excision is the standard Rx but there has been shift towards the use of topical chemotherapeutic agents.Case: 55yr/F came with c/o DOVx6months ,H/O BE pterygium excision, after that she developed a fleshy mass in RE A/W redness,watering,fb sensation,pain and diplopia.O/E:A gelatinous,multinodular well demarcated mass (5×7)mm present at nasal limbus with feeding vessel.Exfoliative cytology:s/o moderate dysplasia.No scleral or intraocular invasion on UBM.Topical 5-fu1%,QIDx2 weeks was started with complete regression in15 days.Discussion-Chemotherapeutic agents can be used as a monotherapy for preinvasive OSSN with comparable efficacy and reasonable S/E or adjuvant Rx after Sx.Conclusion-5-fu is safer,effective Rx, inducing complete regression in OSSN, treated the entire ocular surface and avoid Sx with less scarring and stem cell loss.Purpose-To report the efficacy and safety of topical 5-fu as primary Rx for OSSN.
