Abstract
Idiopathic Intracaranial Hypertension is a syndrome of increased intracranial pressure without ventriculomegaly or mass lesion with normal CSF composition. Reporting a case of 31 year old young, obese female with complaints of headache and blurring of vision since 2 weeks. On examination, vision in right eye was 6/18 (ph-6/12) and left eye was 6/18(ph-NI), anterior segment and IOP were normal, Fundus of both eyes showed blurred disc margins with peripapillary haemorrhages and tortuous blood vessels.Blood investigations and MRI brain showed empty sella. Neurology consultation was done and D-dimer was normal. Lumbar puncture showed elevated CSF pressure (40cm of water).She was started on oral steroids and oral Acetazolamide. Symptoms and signs resolved in 2 weeks. Similar complaints reccured after 10 months, resolved in 2 weeks with treatment and patient was put on maintenance dose of acetazolamide thereafter. It was stopped during first trimester of pregnancy and restarted later.
