Abstract

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) is a potentially blinding disease caused by abnormal development of retinal blood vessels in premature infants.

In this video, we have shown the surgeries performed on 3 eyes with Stage 4 and 1 eye with stage 5 ROP. The first patient with both eyes stage 4 ROP had a premature birth history with a weight of 1400gms and had received oxygenation for 3 days. The second patient with right eye stage 4B and left eye stage 5 ROP also had a similar birth history. Both the cases were operated successfully and had a stable result on postoperative follow up. The video highlights the meticulous steps, precision and the patience which is required to get a successful result in a case of advanced ROP.
