Chorio-retinectomy is a relatively new procedure used in deep impact trauma resulting in penetration of choroid and vitreous incarceration. It prevents fibrous ingrowth, epiretinal proliferation and PVR from wound site. It can be done for therapeutic or prophylactic purpose. The procedure consists of triamcinolone assisted vitrectomy with or without base shaving followed by 100% deep diathermy burns around incarceration site, removal of incarcerated retinal tissue and underlying choroid to expose bare sclera. 1-2 rows of endolaser is done around chorio-retinectomy. The video describes the technique and use of chorioretinectomy in different situations.
