Abstract
A 52 year old woman presented with fever since 3 days and associated burning sensation on forehead and around right eye since 2 days ,Vesicular eruptions since 1 day,Discharge (RE) since1 day and diminision of Vision (RE) since 1 day .
RE positive fibdings are -Vn 6/12,
Externally erythamatous skin, groups of colored fleshy vesicles on right side of forehead, right upper eyelid, along lid margin, side and tip of the nose. (Hutchinson’s Sign positive)
cornea-Clear with Ulcer
conjunctival Hyperemia +
LE-normal
Dendritic in pattern Fluorescein +ve) Sensation reduced
Investigation
Cytological examination of cutaneous vesicular scraping revealed multiple eosinophilic intranuclear inclusions(Lipschutz’s bodies),Multinucleated giant cells(Tzanck’s preparation)
Immune electron microscopy revealed VZV antigens.
Diagnosis
Prodromal phase of HERPES ZOSTER OPHTHALMICUS
